Over on NY Times Dining & Wine, Melissa Clark is recommending you substitute your tomatoes for a plums sprinkled with lemon juice (to match the BLT's acidity) next time you have a hankering for a bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. You can read it here.
Personally, I would worry about the sweetness level being too high, but she says:
