The BLP - Bacon Lettuce and Plum Sandwich?

Over on NY Times Dining & Wine, Melissa Clark is recommending you substitute your tomatoes for a plums sprinkled with lemon juice (to match the BLT's acidity) next time you have a hankering for a bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. You can read it here.

Personally, I would worry about the sweetness level being too high, but she says:
"Then I took a bite. It was as delectable and juicy as a B.L.T., but sweeter and brighter tasting, with the brawny flavor of good, crisp bacon melding with the honeyed fruit."
